Real Oviedo captain Dani Calvo chose Jonathan Dubasin over Haissem Hassan in a recent interview. The central defender made his pick during a quick-fire question round on the Deportes COPE Asturias radio show this Wednesday.
Calvo did not hesitate when asked which former teammate he preferred. "Dubasin. I like Dubasin more as a footballer." the blue defender told the station. The full interview is available on the Cadena COPE website.
Dani Calvo's answer raised eyebrows because both players wore the Real Oviedo shirt and also played for rivals Real Sporting de Gijón. Calvo shared a dressing room with both wingers at different times during his spell at the club. Haissem Hassan was an important piece in the historic promotion to La Liga achieved in the 2024-2025 season. During his time at the club, the Frenchman played 37 matches in the top flight and registered 3 assists.
Jonathan Dubasin, on the other hand, arrived at the club in the 2025 winter transfer window. The Swede brought a different profile, with a greater scoring instinct and notable defensive work. His adaptation was immediate and he became a key player during the second half of the last campaign. You can review detailed statistics for all players on our stats page.
