Real Oviedo played their first pre-season test match, drawing 0-0 with Saudi side Al-Qadisiyah Football Club. The game took place at the Camiral A Quinta do Lago Resort in temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, providing the coaching staff with a first look at the squad in a match scenario.

The manager fielded a starting eleven with Miguel Narváez in goal and a defence of Samu Rodríguez, Dani Calvo, Marco Esteban and Nacho Vidal. The midfield featured Alberto Reina, Aldasoro, Pablo Sáenz and Ilyas Chaira supporting forwards Cardero and Alexandru Isfan in a classic 4-4-2 formation.

First-half chances

The first half produced the clearer opportunities. In the 22nd minute, Oviedo goalkeeper Miguel Narváez was forced into a full-stretch save to deny a powerful long-range effort from the opposition. Shortly after a hydration break, Ilyas Chaira struck the woodwork with a right-footed shot following a cross from Nacho Vidal. The same player won the ball back two minutes later and forced Saudi keeper Casteels into action. Oviedo's best chance came in the 44th minute when a shot from outside the box by Pablo Sáenz whistled just over the bar.

Changes and controlled tempo

The second half began with multiple changes. Costas, Eze, Aisar, Youness, Dieguito, Jacobo, Enzo, Guillermo Berzal and Joaquín came on, with only Narváez and Samu Rodríguez remaining from the initial lineup. The tempo of the game dropped noticeably, a common feature at this stage of pre-season due to accumulated training load. After another hydration break, Agudín, Mingo, Espi and Coballes entered the fray. In the final minutes, Sauri replaced Narváez in goal. In stoppage time, a corner from Jacobo was met by a header from Agudín at the far post, which went narrowly wide.

The club's official website confirmed the match details in its report. This friendly comes as Real Oviedo sit 15th in the Segunda División, with five points from four games. Their next competitive fixture is an away trip to seventh-placed Sabadell on September 20.
