Real Oviedo received a squad boost on Monday as Aritz Aldasoro and Estanis Pedrola returned to full training with the group. According to La Nueva España, both players completed the first part of the session under Julián Calero normally, edging closer to availability for Saturday's LaLiga Hypermotion match against Albacete Balompié.
The reintegration of the midfielder on loan from Racing Santander and the forward is positive news for the manager, who is chasing his first win of the season. Aldasoro had not trained with the group all week before the Leganés match, while Pedrola had spent two weeks doing specific work apart. In Monday's session, neither took part in the high-intensity finishing drill, doing adapted work afterwards.
The club applied a load management protocol with several starters from the last match. Goalkeeper Aarón Escandell and defenders Dani Calvo and Jacobo González, along with forward Chris Ramos, stayed inside the facilities at El Requexón. All are expected to be available for the trip to Albacete barring any setbacks.
The injured Ilyas Chaira and Marco Esteban continued their recovery separately from the group. Players in the exit ramp, such as Luka Ilic and Brandon Domingues, were also absent. The blue-and-white squad, sitting 14th in the standings after the first matchday, needs to start picking up points.
The return of Aldasoro and Pedrola provides greater options for Calero. Aldasoro, aged 23, offers versatility in central midfield, an area where Oviedo has players like Viti Rozada and Santiago Colombatto. Pedrola, a 22-year-old winger, adds pace and dribbling on the flanks, competing for a spot with Alemão and Masca.
To complete the drills, the coach called up seven players from the reserve team: Diego Espinosa, Iker Navarro, Gerard Márquez, Cheli, Jaime Fuentes, Isi Angulo and Óscar de la Hera. The team has three more sessions before travelling to Castilla-La Mancha. The match at the Carlos Belmonte is scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 PM.
Albacete, who lost their opening match away from home, will be a tough opponent on their own ground. Oviedo needs to improve its offensive output after failing to score in the first game. The potential inclusion of Pedrola could add more dynamism to the attack.
With Chaira injured, the central defensive duties fall to Dani Calvo and David Costas, who have a solid partnership. The team must be more solid in front of Escandell, who has been a key figure since his arrival. Fans can check the team's detailed performance on our stats page.
The immediate priority is to get a positive result that builds confidence within the group. With several players returning to fitness, Calero will have more choices for his starting eleven. The aim is to secure the first three points of the campaign and climb the table.
