Goalkeeper Aarón Escandell has signed a contract extension with Real Oviedo, committing his future to the Asturian club until the summer of 2029. The player held a press conference at the El Requexón training ground to detail the agreement.
Escandell firmly dismissed rumours linking him with a move away, specifically addressing reported interest from Valencia. "If I am very happy here, why would I want to move?", the keeper stated. Negotiations with the board and the Pachuca Group progressed smoothly and were concluded within a matter of days.
Aarón Escandell explained that talks with the club were straightforward and direct. He thanked the sporting direction for their trust and expressed his desire to repay it on the pitch. The new deal, which now ties him to Real Oviedo for three more seasons, shows the project's commitment to a key figure in goal. The keeper, who turns 31 in September, becomes one of the players with the longest projected stay in the squad. Fans can check the updated squad details on our squad page.
The player spoke positively about his working relationship with his teammate Miguel Narváez. He highlighted the healthy environment and daily competition between the goalkeepers, a factor he sees as beneficial for the team's performance. Escandell also valued the security provided by the defensive line, naming centre-backs like David Costas and Dani Calvo. Manager Calero's staff, according to the keeper, insists on building a united and solidary team to face all moments of the competition.
The renewal of a key asset like Escandell comes at an important point in the season. Real Oviedo aims to consolidate its position in the Segunda División and fight for higher objectives. Stability in goal is a significant asset for a team that currently has an experienced defensive block. Supporters can follow the team's progress in the standings.
Real Oviedo's next official fixture is a home league match scheduled for the upcoming weekend. Aarón Escandell, with his new contract in effect, will be a fundamental piece between the posts for that encounter and those to come.
