Real Oviedo has agreed a transfer deal with Real Sociedad for Carlos Fernández, a 30-year-old forward from Seville who has been a success in the last season in Anduva.
What happened?
The 30-year-old forward, who had a connection with the Donostian entity until June 2027, will leave the club after a stint that began in January 2021, when Real Sociedad signed him from Sevilla. Injuries and lack of continuity limited his prominence, while he also had loan spells at Cádiz and Mirandés.
Why it matters for Real Oviedo?
Carlos Fernández recovered his best version during the last season in Anduva. With the red-and-white team, he played 35 Segunda División games, 31 as a starter, and scored 16 goals, while also providing two assists. That performance convinced Oviedo, which was looking for another forward to complete the blue attack of Julián Calero and accompany Chris Ramos.
What comes next?
The incorporation of Carlos Fernández is a stroke of luck for Real Oviedo, which is seeking to improve its position in the league table. With 26 goals scored and 60 conceded, the team is in 20th place with 29 points, 6 wins, 11 draws, and 21 losses in 38 games, with a recent performance of LLLDL. 65 points behind the leaders of Barcelona, Real Oviedo continues to fight to improve its classification in the competition.
