Real Oviedo have begun their week of work with a training session at El Requexón, preparing for Saturday's key match against league leaders UD Almería. The team is in high spirits after securing their second consecutive victory in the Segunda División.
The squad, led by manager Julián Calero, completed the session on Tuesday morning. The coach was pleased with the group's condition. "The team led by Julián Calero approaches this new encounter after winning in Ceuta and securing their second consecutive victory of the season," said the manager.
Progress on the fitness front
The session brought positive news on the injury front. Estanis Pedrola returned to work with the main group. Alexandru Ișfan completed the first part of the training and continues his recovery process from the muscle injury he suffered prior to the Asturian derby. It was his first full session since then.
Other players carried out specific tasks. Ilyas Chaira and Estanis Pedrola worked on ball conservation exercises as substitutes. However, the medical report still lists some absences. Youness and Aisar remained inside the facilities during the session, while Juan Cruz, Chris Ramos and Carlos Fernández did not participate in training.
The squad is scheduled to train again tomorrow, Wednesday, at 9:30 am at the blue sports city. Work will continue on Thursday and Friday before the team travels to Almeria on Saturday morning. The match is set for 21:00 at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos.
The carbayón team arrives at this fixture in good form, sitting ninth in the table with 17 points after ten games. Their record is five wins, two draws and three defeats. In their last five matches they have recorded three wins and two losses, stringing together two consecutive victories after beating Eibar (3-1) and AD Ceuta FC (1-2). In that last match, the goals came from Samuel Rodríguez and Carlos Domínguez, the team's top scorer this season with four goals.
The clash against Almería represents a significant challenge, as the Andalusian side leads the division and is seven points ahead of Oviedo. The blues will look to maintain their positive run and close the gap in the standings. The team will fly to Almeria on Saturday morning for the 21:00 kick-off.
