Real Oviedo secured a key three points in Ceuta with a 2-1 victory that marked their 1500th match in the Segunda División. The Blues triumphed on their first visit to the Estadio Alfonso Murube with goals from Samu Rodríguez and Carlos Domínguez, holding off a late local push to consolidate ninth place in the standings. The team now has 14 points from their nine games played.

Julián Calero fielded the same starting eleven that had beaten Eibar the previous week. The central defence was again formed by Dani Calvo, who made his 200th official appearance for the club, and Carlos Domínguez. The team started with intensity and opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. David Jiménez took a short corner and Samu Rodríguez, unmarked in the area, sent a low cross to the far post that found the net.

Ceuta reacted and in the 52nd minute referee José Luis Guzmán Mansilla awarded a penalty for an alleged foul by Jiménez on Koné. After a VAR review, the decision was overturned. That was the prelude to Oviedo's second goal. In the 61st minute, following a free-kick from Goti and a header from Morales, goalkeeper Pedro López cleared off the line and Carlos Domínguez pounced on the rebound to score his fourth goal of the season.

Late pressure and suspension

The home side pulled one back in the 83rd minute with a goal from Alejandro Camacho after a series of corners. In added time, Ceuta's pressure was constant but Aarón Escandell, with a key save from Zalazar, and the defence held firm. The victory was marred by a fifth booking of the campaign for Carlos Domínguez, resulting in a suspension that will rule him out of the next league match.

"Real Oviedo faced a new LALIGA Hypermotion fixture this Sunday, visiting AD Ceuta FC for the first time in their history," explained coach Julián Calero. With this win, the team has recorded two consecutive victories and sits in ninth place with 14 points, ten behind leaders Almería. Their season record stands at four wins, two draws and three losses, having scored 11 goals and conceded nine. Their recent form of three wins and two losses from the last five matches includes the 3-1 win over Eibar and a 4-1 defeat to Eldense. The next challenge will be precisely against the Almería side, on Saturday 24 October at 18:30, in a match that will test the Blues' positive run. Full fixtures details are available for supporters.

Julián Calero analyzed the victory in Ceuta. The manager stated: "We played a very good match for 83 minutes". Calero regretted not closing the game earlier after a clear chance for Morales in the second half. The team, ninth with 17 points, maintains its run of two consecutive wins.

AD Ceuta FC confirmed that Sunday's match was the first meeting in the Segunda División between the two sides at the Alfonso Murube in 46 years. The home club also detailed that morning rain left a fast-playing surface. The Oviedo side, ninth with 17 points, keeps its two-game winning run ahead of visiting the leaders.
